Steve Nash seems to be making as many moves off the court since he retired as he did during his illustrious career. Today it was announced that Nash and Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver have bought a majority stake in Spanish club Mallorca. By doing so, Nash and Sarver become the majority shareholders in the Spanish second division club.

Mallorca was a long time member of La Liga, but have struggled since having financial problems and currently find themselves in 18th place in the Spanish second division. So Steve and his crew have some work to do. I have a feeling that Nash will help guide Mallorca back to La Liga in due time.

I really, really like the moves that Steve Nash is making. He has built himself up a nice stable of business interests and charitable work. He has things ranging from his Steve Nash Foundation, to his production company, his investment in the Women’s Professional Soccer League, his interest in the Vancouver Whitecaps and so on. Plus this cat plays pick up games and trains with some of the world’s biggest clubs and best players. Not a bad life he has put together.

Steve Nash has been quoted as ssaying one of his goals is to become the owner (or maybe part owner) of Tottenham. I can see this being a move that helps get him get closer to that goal.

** Side note – When I had my brief stint as a pro in Europe, one of my goals at the time was to sign with Mallorca. I knew I wasn’t headed to a major club, and Mallorca looked like one helluva place to live and get to play soccer. Have you ever Googled Mallorca? Do that. Click on images. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Steve Nash won again.
